Fower City Chaplains

Our Purpose:

The Flower City Chaplain Corps, Inc. exists as a non-governmental public charity dedicated to providing a ministry of healing and comfort to the general public within Monroe County and beyond. Coming from a variety of religious backgrounds and serving on a voluntary basis, Flower City chaplains seek to sustain those in crisis, support those in need, and enhance the effectiveness of our towns, schools, police, firefighters, businesses, private citizens, and other public servants.   We are spiritual and social beings. The medical and the psychological practices contribute greatly to the well-being of the community. But the healing of the soul and spirit; the reestablishing of authentic relationships with other people, and the restoration of the whole person require something more. We provide counseling to individuals regardless of denominational or other religious or non-religious affiliation.

Our Chaplains:

What makes the Flower City Chaplain Corps a unique ministry is our ability to confront every issue from the biblical perspective relative to service. We are a ministry corps involved in search & rescue, crisis counseling at crimes scenes, death notices,  suicides, homicides, fugitive safe surrender, education, to name some—–all with an evangelism and discipleship focus. Our holistic approach to life’s issues makes us truly instruments of righteousness.  The office of chaplain exist parallel with the establishment of this country. When General George Washington, on July 1st 1776, requested of Congress to appoint chaplains to serve under him in the military, and pay them accordingly, Congress responded eight days later: “The Honorable Continental Congress having been pleased to allow a chaplain to each regiment, with pay of thirty-three and one-third dollars per month, the colonels or commanding officers of each regiment are directed to procure chaplains accordingly — persons of good character and exemplary lives….”
